In memory of Tim Vorenkamp, who we met at the London Olympics at the age of 15. Tim recently succumbed to a rare cancer he had been battling for years. He was just 18 when he died last month and had just started at UC Berkeley. We interviewed Tim at The Olympic Games in 2012 thanks to Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire, who arranged the trip for Tim and his family. His mother, Petra Vorenkamp, recalls photographers Sean Browning, Thomas Bravo and I "gave him so much joy that day." It was a special moment for us as well. I am sure everyone at NBC LA who met him, including Michelle Valles, won't forget him. This inspirational teenager started a foundation called Live for Others Foundation raising tens of thousands of dollars to research and treat Synovial Cell Sarcoma. Tim, we thank you for making the world a better place for the all too brief time you were here.
